FAQ

Why should we hire Mojave Exposure?

You should always have your real estate photos taken and processed professionally: People thumb through real estate pictures very quickly. You need to catch their eye within 2 seconds. Take a look at the comparison below of pictures taken without any processing and those that are processed professionally with multi-exposure compositing. Which side would catch your eye quicker? They are the exact same photo. One with processing, the other without. Pictures taken with a cellphone camera are exponentially worse. Whether or not your selling your camper, or a luxury home, it is important to make the best first impression. Our homes (for most of us) are the most important investment we have, and we want to ensure we get the highest dollar for our property in the shortest amount of time. Remember, people look at the pictures before they ever begin to read about the property.

What is a window pull and why should I be concerned about it… and what is multi-exposure compositing?

A window pull is a real estate photography term which means to bring the exposure of the view outside the windows of a property while having proper exposure of the interior of the property at the same time. One of the huge selling points of our properties in the Mojave area is our beautiful desert and mountain views. If you simply use a point and click camera to take pictures of the interior, you will find that the camera must choose between exposure of what the lighting levels are in the interior vs lighting levels of what is outside the window. Usually the camera will vastly over expose the exterior (outside the window) to get an exposure of the interior. The end result is most generally a window that is all washed out in white, making the exterior view unable to be seen.   The interior can also become underexposed with colors that are not vivid. Multi-exposure compositing is a process where multiple exposures are taken to capture correct exposure for not only the inside, and outside view, but other areas of the room as well. Sometimes other parts of the picture may include a hallway, or a room in the distance. Ceilings can require a different exposure than the floor and require a separate exposure. Then all the exposures are “blended” or composited together to make one seamless image. See the example below and notice the difference.

Notice the overexposure of the light outside the windows on the picture on the left. Then contrast the picture on the right. The views outside the window are visible and not washed out. The colors pop and grab the viewer’s attention.

If you were flipping through pictures quickly at a real estate website, which picture would catch your attention?

How do the image quantity and rates work?

The Economy package is mostly meant for studios, or very small homes. However, exceptions can be made for larger properties depending on various circumstances, or for listings that are primarily about the land.

The Economy package quotes up to 12 images and the Standard package states up to 50 images. The number of images depends on a lot of variables of possible angles and the best views to show the property.

Aerial drone stills package will add another 5 -15 aerial stills to whichever package you choose it to go with. Example, if you choose the economy shoot with aerial stills, you will have your usual 12 images with an additional 5 to 15 aerial stills depending on need. Aerial Drone stills or video can also be purchased as a standalone option.

Land Parcel shoots can range from 8 to 20 photos depending on the property. We try to do an aerial flight 360 degrees around the property so that is viewable for your buyers from every corner and side. However, sometimes due to restrictions in or obstructions such as mountains, or restricted flying areas, we may not always be able to accomplish this for you. Occasionally a property may be in a no fly zone which prevents aerial photography altogether.

Generally we need 2 days to do processing of the pictures on a standard or economy shoot. A Deluxe shoot may take an extra day, but sometimes those can get done in 2 days as well depending on our schedule. The 2 days is not a guarantee, but that is generally the amount of time it takes. The pictures that will be available to you will be MLS friendly. Higher resolution images will be available to you upon request for no additional fee.

How will I be invoiced and how can I pay?

We take a lot of pride in what we do, and in the quality of our work. After the photos are completed, processed, and you receive a link to the download directory. The photos may have a watermark on them which will be removed after payment of the invoice. Your invoice will be sent to you by e-mail. You may pay with major credit card, check, or cash. You will then receive a receipt with the invoice marked as “paid”. Please bookmark the link that you were sent. If you choose to hire our services again in the future, that same link will give you access to all your properties separated by property address.

Is there a Legal Disclaimer for photo rights?

YES!

All photos and rights relating to them, including copyright and ownership rights in the media in which the photos are stored, remain the sole and exclusive property of the photographer. When you hire us for services you are purchasing a “Use License” for the photos which is included on all MLS photoshoot fees. This license provides the client with the limited right to reproduce, publicly display, and distribute the photos only for promotional or advertising purposes directly related to the sale of the property. Photos used for any purpose not directly related to the sale of the property must be with the express permission of photographer and the payment of additional fees, unless otherwise agreed to in writing. All Use Licenses are not transferrable. MLS Use License expires after 1 year or until escrow closes, whichever comes first.

Short Term Rental Properties are subject to a separate licensing fee. This license allows the client to use the photos as long as they own the property for promotional purposes only. Short Term Rental Photos cannot be transferred for MLS purposes without additional fees.

Full Copyright ownership of photos is available for an additional fee upon request. Photos cannot be transferred without the expressed permission of Mojave Exposure and additional fees.
